I googled the term ethical and sustainable fashion when this brand approached me. Although I had a general understanding of sustainable fashion, I was not familiar with the concept. Sustainability as we know it takes on the idea of fulfilling our needs while being mindful of future generations meeting their needs. (environmentally friendly) As it relates to fashion, wearing clothing that considers negative effects on the environment.

HCB: BlairLane Do you consider your pieces to be simple and timeless? In efforts to wear them for a long time and style with different outfits.
BL: Yes, I consider my pieces to be curated because I am spending a lot of time and doing a lot of research into the clothing and brands before choosing them. I try to make sure I’m finding things that are on trend but not trendy.
HCB: What is one of the values behind BlairLane?
BL: Finding pieces that are sustainable, eco-friendly/environmentally friendly, and made ethically. Pieces can be made with organic materials, made with recycled fibers, or produced in a facility that commits to producing little to no waste during their processes. I also work with several brands/manufacturers in LA who source everything locally.
HCB: What are some of the benefits of wearing sustainable clothing?
BL: By choosing to shop sustainably, you are contributing to the well-being of the planet. You are choosing brands that aren’t using as much water during production and you are wearing clothing that’s made with pesticide-free fibers. Non-sustainable fashion increases carbon dioxide emissions, so we are helping the earth and choosing a better future for all of us.
